This book, called ‘Patriot’, which popped up a mere eight months after he sadly passed away in prison, just snagged a National Book Critics Circle award for autobiography. That’s something, right? I mean, imagine battling through years of struggle and getting your voice heard, posthumously. Quite the story! Right there with him in the winners’ circle, you’ve got Hisham Matar with his novel ‘My Friends’, and Anne Carson, who wowed everyone with her poetry collection ‘Wrong Norma’. And there’s more, Tessa Hulls’ ‘Feeding Ghosts: A Graphic Memoir’ grabbed the John Leonard Prize for best debut. These folks are really shaking up the literary world!

Moving on to a bit of holiday cheer, or maybe not? Mariah Carey’s Christmas tune, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, was in a bit of legal hot water. A couple of songwriters claimed she pinched it from their 1989 track. But hold up, a judge in Los Angeles just cleared her name. Out comes Mariah and Walter Afanasieff, her co-writer, without a scratch, no trial needed. And yeah, those who sued? Not too happy, they might appeal. Ouch!

On a different note, Quinta Brunson, that brilliant mind behind ‘Abbott Elementary', is saying goodbye to her hubby, Kevin Anik, after three years. Sad times. Over in music land, Michelle Zauner from Japanese Breakfast is dropping some new tunes. Her new album, ‘For Melancholy Brunettes (and Sad Women)’, is all about the softer shades of sad.
