Mango is furthering its strategy for international expansion with Mango Teen by opening the first-ever store for the youth line in Lisbon, within the Vasco da Gama shopping center. This makes Portugal the third international market to have a standalone Mango Teen store, after yesterday's openings in London and Andorra last year. Since its launch in 2021, the youth line has almost doubled its number of stores by 2024, surpassing 40 locations and establishing a presence in 95 markets through both multi-line and online platforms. In 2024, Mango Teen and Kids registered substantial turnover growth in double digits. The expansion of Mango Teen forms part of the 4E Strategic Plan for 2024-2026 which aims to enhance the unique value proposition by means of expansion as well as improvements in sales performance both in existing stores and online channels.
Mango, one of the leading international fashion groups, is furthering the development and global expansion of its youth line Mango Teen by opening the first physical store in Portugal. This location is inside the Vasco da Gama shopping center in Lisbon's Parque das Nações; it is the third standalone store of the Teen line outside Spain and nearly four years after its launch. "The opening of the first Mango Teen shop in Portugal is a very good opportunity to inspire younger generations with our passion for fashion," says Berta Moral, Director of Mango Kids and Teen. "It is another step forward in our commitment to the international expansion of Mango Teen, a project we started last year and which we'll be enhancing further in the coming months to build a complete global offer for all age groups — women, men, and children — as well as teenagers."
The new store, covering 200 m2, presents the New Med concept in a Mediterranean style, reflecting the spirit and dynamism of the brand. This makes for a concept focused on sustainability and architectural coherence, imagining the Mango store as a Mediterranean house with different living areas. The space is filled with warm tones and neutral colors, using traditional, handcrafted, sustainable, and natural materials.
In the following months, Mango will expand its teen line within the Portuguese market by opening a new Mango Teen store at the UBBO shopping center in Amadora. In addition, within 2025, the company will enhance its presence in Portugal by opening two flagship stores featuring collections for Women’s, Men’s, and Kids’ wear located in Porto and in the southern region of the country.
It is embedded in the 4E Strategic Plan for 2024-2026 which is designed to foster Mango's distinctive value offering plus innovation and sustainability with sales enhancement through significantly broader store networks and development of all product lines and distribution channels.
Set up in 2021, Mango Teen wants to fulfill the style needs of people changing from being kids to grown-ups by giving nice choices for young folks. "This line fills a missing part in the market and leads the way with new, lively, and fresh looks, setting trends in modern youth fashion," says Moral.
Mixing old styles with new touches and bold patterns, the line offers a range of products that includes clothes, footwear, jewelry, and workout wear. This makes it easy to build flexible outfits fit for different times, from relaxed days to night out and serious events.
Initially, Mango Teen was marketed through digital channels in around 50 markets, as well as pop-up venues in major Spanish cities and a steady presence in stores under the Mango Kids brand. The first freestanding stores for the youth line opened in 2022. By 2023 and 2024, both Mango Kids and Mango Teen will have posted substantial turnover growth, with double-digit figures.
Mango Teen last year unveiled an ambitious expansion plan that included the opening of some fifteen new stores in Spain and its first international store outside Spain in London near Carnaby, which is a very lively area in the city center. Also, a store was opened in Andorra last summer, in the shopping center Illa Carlemany of Escaldes. By the end of 2024, the brand will be significantly reinforcing its retail network with the operation of 40 plus stores and a presence in 95 markets through multi-line and online channels.
The forecasts for 2025 indicate that Mango Teen will further expand its physical presence worldwide by entering Portugal and consolidating its position in Spain with more than fifteen new openings.
