There are some trends in pop culture that give people a way to be fashionable in expressing their disdain for various things. Some targets come and go, like superhero films and Coldplay, while others- such as the Twilight movies- seem to draw consistent fire from film buffs. Yet franchise front-man Robert Pattinson has taken to the press and claimed that this negativity surrounding it needs to stop, and fans need to get over it.
Pattinson played Edward Cullen in all five films, the vampire lead opposite Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan and Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black. The series started with the film Twilight in 2008 and ended with the last episode, Breaking Dawn- Part 2, released just four years later in 2012.
DiscussingFilm reports that Pattinson had some advice for Twilight detractors: ‘they should just let it go.’ “It intrigues me that people continue to say: ‘Dude, Twilight ruined the vampire genre,” the actor remarked. It’s been about a revival in the vampire genre since Twilight landed-If few shiny-skinned romantic glitterati, then primarily bloodsucking nasty beings, portrayed in films. Some of the examples within this genre include Only Lovers Left Alive, What We Do in the Shadows, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, and the very famous Nosferatu.
Yes, it’s true that Pattinson was one of those aggravated fans who in several interviews criticized the Twilight movies after they hit the screens. But that was 17 years ago, and he’s over it now. ‘Do yourselves a favor and get over it,’ is how he now advocates reaping that thing. “You still worrying about that sh*t?” he said. “How can something from almost 20 years ago still make you mad? That’s just bizarre.” If he thinks the anti-Twilight backlash is bad, then he should consider himself lucky that he has not appeared in a Star Wars movie.

Love it or hate it, Twilight is still a big part of pop culture. The original movies have a pretty big following, and every year tons of people fly into Veronia and Portland in Oregon for a yearly celebration of the movies and their community. And soon, there’s a whole new generation of Twilight fans just teetering on the edge of finding out about that Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle in the impending reboot of the franchise.
Love it or hate it, the fact remains that the Twilight saga holds a big place in modern cinema.

In 2023, Lionsgate Television made public their plans for a new Twilight TV series. As the creator of the ‘Twilight’ novels, Stephenie Meyer was purported to be a significant player in its production. Most people assumed that when the project was announced, it was going to be live action, such as the Harry Potter reboot that had just been announced by HBO around the same time last year; however, last year Netflix acquired it and confirmed it’s going to be impaneled.
The streaming giant has given a straight-to-series order to an eight-episode show titled Midnight Sun. Written by Sinead Daly, who is also acting as an executive producer on the series, known for her contributions to Raised by Wolves. There hasn’t been much news so far in the way of updates, notably in terms of casting.
Twilight is a PG-13 rated romantic fantasy drama that came out on November 21, 2008 with a total time duration of 121 minutes. Robert Pattinson, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Rachelle Lefevre, Elizabeth Reaser, Kristen Stewart, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Cam Gigandet, Kellan Lutz, Taylor Lautner, Anna Kendrick, and Billy Burke are also seen in the casts of the movie. It was directed by Catherine Hardwicke.
