Katie Price reveals surprising low amount she pays in car insurance

IN: “Tune in to ‘Straight to the Comments!” with Katie Price in today’s Mail talking all things from bankruptcy to online bullying to surgery. Now on all podcast platforms.”

Katie Price reveals the shockingly low figure she pays for car insurance, despite the six driving bans to her name.

The former glamour model has the onerous history of no fewer than five previous driving bans.

£880 penalty last March for operating a Range Rover on the A14 bypass in Kettering, Northamptonshire without insurance and no valid license to drive.

With such a varied driving history, she very much intimidates insurance companies; at one time, she was given an annual premium of £150,000 — which translates to £7,000 a month.

So in that latest episode with her sister Sophie on The Katie Price Show/Sophie: “What’s it called?” Katie: “Two Girls” Sophie: “Eh no.” Katie: “Late late show” podcast, Katie said she already got insurance for £800 a year.

She had also been ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £66 and costs of £85. The fine remained unpaid, Northampton Magistrates' Court heard at the time. Last March Price was fined £880 for driving a Range Rover on the A14 bypass in Kettering, Northamptonshire, without insurance or a proper license.
While discussing about costs of getting back to driving, she said, “A new year brings about a new start, and good things are already happening. Job opportunities are coming to me but the big element is my return to driving.

Finally got my license back after two years. Should have got it earlier but DVLA issues and people emailing. I actually had to wait for my physical license. And now, once I have the license again, I can’t secure insurance for any of the vehicles. The cost is exorbitant. £150,000 a year, £7,000 every month. Who in his right mind would realistically pay that much?

Anyway, I’ve rented a car, which comes at £400 per week, £100 more than the cab. After a month of using the car, I did some quick calculation- it’s £1,600. Then I thought to myself ‘Why not try to insure my own car?’ To my happiness, it went through. Now, I have standard insurance that costs me £800 a year to pay, fully comprehensive and am really pleased with it.

A typical annual price for automobile premium in the UK is around £861, or approximately £71.75 per month; however, this number can change due to factors like one’s history as a driver.
Price then quickly gets back on the road after a setback by renting a luxury Jeep from a rental agency.

“We visited Enterprise and asked for the biggest Jeep, the best car you’ve got. They said they had one, a Nissan Jeep. I asked if it is black, and if it’s an automatic.”

“They said sure, we’ll look into it. Do you have your driver’s license?”

Price admits she was shocked when they plonked her with the car after reluctantly returning it.

‘‘She said that due to her varied driving record, she’s been hard to get insured and at one time was quoted £150,000 annually, which would break down to £7,000 a month.
“I said, ‘Wait, the Nissan is for me?’ They responded, ‘Yes!’ It was like they had never seen anyone that happy before,” she recalled.”

28RP Price was allotted 28 days to settle the amount of £1,852, which was related to the offenses that took place on the A14 in Kettering on August 2 of the previous year.

Chairman of the bench Neil Sheppard said: “Having considered the evidence put before us, we are satisfied that the case against Miss Price has been made.”

The magistrates were also told that Price had an extended record of motoring offenses, having been caught driving while disqualified on both 2019 and 2021.

She had five previous disqualifications from the bench at the time of the recent offense.
She picked up eight endorsements which she had been given at Blackpool when her license had expired under a ‘medical stop’ imposed in April last year.

The court was told that Price was on CCTV at an M&S filling station on the morning of August 2, a patrol car of entrance observing police officers as his car drove onto one of the pumps.”
Prosecutor Cheryl Burridge outlined the facts against Price saying, “Officers were in a mobile patrol when they stopped over at the service station.

A car pulls up to the gas pump at the service station. Price gets out of the car with an unidentified man and a child.

Price and the man alighted from the vehicle and entered the services between the officers, at which time the court was informed she was identified, hence the belief that she could not be the driver.

Although there was no ban on Price driving, the court was informed she did not, in fact, hold a valid license because it had been "stopped" after renewed application was withdrawn.

Price left in the passenger seat, and thus, it was unknown who had driven off in the Range Rover with her, as she was not caught because none of the policemen had seen her behind the wheel.

After Price had left services, the court was informed that officers looked at this footage of her coming out of the driver’s seat, which led to the filing of criminal charges.

In a statement to the court by the prosecutor, Pc Harrison Beverley said: “Throughout this statement I will be referring to a woman known as Katie Price.”

I was in front of the shops, speaking to the police who had responded. I never saw her (Price) drive.

“I identified her as having been driving on media reports.

The officer added that he had looked at the CCTV footage at the filling station and he saw a female whom he believed to be Price come out from the driver’s side of the Range Rover.

An expired license and no insurance on file were why they tagged the car after Price’s information was run through the computer. And his previous suspended sentence had not affected the present case, with her having picked up three further points for speeding in November 2023.
Eleven driving-related problems have been found on the TV star for fifteen years.

Katie Price has a long list of driving offenses, which have led to her being disqualified from driving six times.

She escaped a speeding ticket because the case against her was not finalized within 12 weeks after she was alleged to have driven at 70mph in a 40mph zone in her Range Rover.

Price was issued three penalty points as he was observed talking on the phone while driving on April 18, 2008.

In 2009, she did not disclose the driver's identity after her vehicle reportedly had been observed speeding in a 30mph area. She was ‘flashed’ doing 99mph and later received 4 points on her license.

In 2010, the model was found guilty of allowing her horsebox to stray across another lane as she did not have proper control of it. This earned her three points on her license, making 10 in total. She was slapped with a six-month driving ban in December after she was caught driving at 83mph in a 70mph zone in West Sussex, her home county.

Price in 2012 faced a 12-month disqualification two years later for failing to deal with two speeding tickets received in September.

In February 2018, Price was given a six-month suspension after acquiring 12 penalty points from speeding. In July, photos emerged of her behind the wheel defying the ban. By October, she was arrested driving while supposed to be banned after failing a breathalyzer test following a collision with a VW Golf and a hedge on a gated estate at 2 a.m. which landed her into 13 hours of detention.

She got a three-month driving ban in January 2019, having been disqualified. In October, she was hit with an additional 18 months of driving ban for failing to inform the police as to who was driving her pink Range Rover in the course of crashing in Bexley, South East London.

In September 2021, Katie was in a car accident when the BMW she was driving collided with another vehicle on a rural road near her West Sussex home early in the morning. After the accident, she pleaded guiltily at Crawley Magistrates Court to charges of driving while exceeding the prescribed limit of alcoholic content, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
She was returned to court in 2022 regarding charges for speeding and failing to give information to the authorities.

Price was fined almost £400 for speeding and driving with an expired license shortly after she had started driving again following a ban for driving while drunk only weeks ago.
