Winsome has filed with the authorities in Quebec the Preliminary Information Statement for the Adina Lithium Project, which includes the Renard Operation. This submission initiates what will become a clearly delineated provincial regulatory process in relation to permitting the proposed mine at Adina and the associated changes to the Renard Operation, within the Eeyou Istchee James Bay area. In the upcoming months, the Québec authorities will review the Preliminary Information Statement and provide further guidance on the nature and scope of the upcoming Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) submission, along with the studies required to support it. The Company has a large dataset that will help requirements for studies typically needed by Québec authorities because Renard has a long-operational history and baseline environmental studies were initiated early at Adina. Filing the Preliminary Information Statement also allows more opportunities to pass on the latest information on the Project to a wide range of stakeholders and communities in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region, and in particular, the Cree Nation of Mistissini whose traditional territories are within the Adina and Renard locations.
MONTREAL, Jan. 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ - Winsome Resources WR ("Winsome" or "the Company"), a lithium explorer and developer, is pleased to announce that it has filed the Preliminary Information Statement for its Adina Lithium Mining Project which includes the well-maintained Renard Operation and has been submitted to the Ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP) — the designated authority in the Provincial Government of Québec for supervising all mining developments within the territory described in the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) south of the 55th parallel.

Initial Information Document

The proposed Project shall follow the provincial ESIA procedures as per the provincial Environmental Quality Act. Adina will specifically plan and develop in conformity with Section 22 of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement which stipulates that the Preliminary Information Statement for any new mining operation shall be reviewed by COMEV. This committee is an advisory group composed of members appointed by the governments of Quebec, Canada, and the Cree Nation.

Basic environmental study

The Adina Site biophysical and socioeconomic (human) environmental baseline studies started in Summer 2023 and are ongoing with input from Cree contractors. To date, some physical baseline data has been collected, which includes hydrology, surface water quality (from streams and lakes), groundwater quality, geochemistry, soil quality, and local climate information (like precipitation and temperature), which is being monitored using an on-site meteorological station. The biological field studies done include fish and fish habitat assessments, wetlands, vegetation, other fauna (small mammals, bats, reptiles, amphibians, moose, and caribou), and bird species. Other research activities will focus on collecting socio-economic baseline data pertaining to landscape, archaeology, and traditional land use. Collection of baseline data is to continue through 2025 and may be modified as necessary to fulfill the directive's requirements to gather most of the remaining information required for the effects assessment for both provincial and federal processes, subject to further guidance from regulatory authorities.

REGARDING WINSOME RESOURCES

Winsome Resources WR is a Company focused on the exploration and development of lithium, having several projects in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Québec, Canada. Together with our lithium projects in Québec—namely the Cancet, Sirmac-Clapier, and Tilly Projects—Winsome Resources secures full offtake rights for lithium, caesium, and tantalum from the Case Lake Project in Eastern Ontario, which is owned by Power Metals Corp PWM and in which we hold a 19.6% equity interest.
