Though I’m not so brand-specific, I do find myself liking the look of Moschino accessories quite a bit so when I saw someone online carrying what looked like a red heart handbag right out of the house, I had some serious pangs of wanting it for myself.
Balancing familiarity and novelty is what makes red hearts at Valentine’s Day acceptable, though they’re not that original, in my eyes. Specifically, this Valentine’s Love Moschino heart handbag that I got from TK Maxx is far too big for my needs, so I have to have a smaller cross-body bag. I found this design of a tiny cross-body bag that could fit only a phone, keys, and wallet at an online store.
Searching on Google, various choices pop up. There's a £1,500 Moschino heart bag, and the £200 Radley, Kate Spade red heart bag at £260, and the cheaper £79 Kurt Geiger ‘heart’ bag. That is my heart racing when I saw the handbag I wanted so badly to reappear on my Facebook feed but this time in a bargain-hunting group. It was at Primark for only ten pounds.

Check this out: I was standing in line with 100 others at The Range in Birmingham and just didn’t want to leave.
Without wasting a second, I entered the Birmingham branch to grab one. They were showing a number of attractive Valentine’s Day things on the display. So not all of them are as bright and striking as the bag, there are small little hearts and red knits that are quite effective.
And indeed, the day was cheered with the bag. It is structured and compact with gold hardware, an adjustable strap along which to lengthen it across the body or short over the arm; whichever way you like to carry it, you can do so with ease. Like Radley and Kate Spade bags, there is also a small handle if you wish to carry it differently. It’s quite cute.
Not perfect as the interior lining is tight without padding for the phone size pocket at the back to really be of much use when stuff can just jostle around inside it. Still, it’s undeniably cute as that lovely shade of red with a raised heart design on the front adds dimension rather than just a plain red surface that I might scratch in no time.
I actually carried it side by side with my Love Moschino handbag, and it looks like they are from the same collection. But it’s way cheaper – not even a single cocktail in any Birmingham bar. I’m in love!
