The Ninja Crispi isn’t your typical air fryer – and its unique design makes it worth the price

The Ninja Crispi isn't your typical air fryer - and its unique design makes it worth the price

Today’s video will be a quick review of the Ninja Crisp 4-in-1 portable glass air fryer cooking system.

The 4 in 1 Ninja Crispi Portable Glass Fryer Cooking System is an original design, makes it easy to carry an air fryer and at its core functionality is cooking food while it draws on food placed on a metal tray inside of a glass cooking chamber that has integrated plastic handles and feet instead of a draw. The heater or PowerPod from the famous Ninja brand, it’s positioned above the glass container together with an adjacent drawer for serving and after cooking is done, pull out the PowerPod and serve right from the glass container over the table.

In the glass container provided, simply cover with lid and store inside the fridge if there are any left over. Glass containers come in different sizes and the PowerPod has a special adaptor that fits in any container size. The cookware offers four cooking modes: Bake, Air Fry, Max Crisp, and Recrisp, each at different temperature settings to bring some variation into what you cook.

The Ninja Crispi, or the Ninja Crispi and the Ninja Juice, may be bought directly from the company’s web site and is available as part of a number of packages that have many glass containers in them. An individual glass container can also be purchased in any of three dimensions, specifically, 6 cups for $29.99, a 2.5-quart container for $39.99, or a 4-quart size for $44.99. I received the standard kit that I trialed which goes for $159.99, consisting one four-quart and the small six-cup glass containers. This product is almost universally available in nearly all stores which would sell air fryers whether over the net or at a brick-and-mortar shop like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart and many others.

The Ninja Crispi 4-in-1 Portable Glass Air Fryer Cooking System, a quirky head PowerPod and set of glass cooking dishes especially intended for Ninja Crispi by the name TempWare Containers from Ninja, capable enough to resist high temperatures involved in cooking. The TempWare Containers by Ninja for the Ninja Crispi have been specifically made to resist the high heat used during cooking. The PowerPod has to use TempWare Containers from Ninja since this PowerPod cannot work with any other kind of dish. A molded plastic component adds handles and feet for easy setting on any countertop. Metal Crisper Plate in each cooking dish holds food up off the base for free air circulation around it while cooking.

Put food in one of the glass containers on the crisper plate, put the pod on top. The PowerPod fits securely in just the small six-cup dish alone or with the larger four-quart dish with adapter. Select Recrisp (380°-400°F), Bake (375°-400°F), Air Fry (400°-425°F), Max Crisp (425°-450°F) as your cooking function mode. Choose your cooking time using - or + buttons, and then start your operation by pressing the start button. Instruction ends

As with most air fryers, it is common to flip over your food about halfway through cooking. To pause the cooking operation, simply extract the PowerPod, which will turn itself off on its own. To start cooking again, just replace the pod on the glass container and press the start button.

The largest glass dish in the package is four quarts; the smallest, six cups. There’s a medium 2.5-quart glass dish that can be purchased separately from Ninja, too. Every glass dish can be bought separately and there’s several kinds of combination sets with dishes. They have handles and feet to eliminate the use of an interfering food transfer vessel. Moreover, every cooking dish comes along with a tight lid thus hereby can alternatively store food.

The Ninja Crispi is easy to maintain. The PowerPod does not have to be cleaned; only the glass containers and crisper plates need to be washed. They happen to be dishwasher safe, although they may just as easily be hand washed. I discovered through usage although not indicated in the document that paper air fryer liners further eased the cleanliness process.

Even though the Ninja Crispi has four modes of cooking, it keeps the primary function commonly associated with air frying. The Air Fryer, Max Crisp, and Recrisp all pretty much acted as expected. Bake mode was more of a letdown, however. After filling and trying to bake a series of items, I found that they all were browned on top but raw in the middle. Perhaps if the air fryer does such a good job you still have to turn something over to get it completely crispy, it's no surprise that the bake mode isn’t super successful. It may work with baking for things that are thin depending on whether or not it gets weighed down by its size and shape. But for massive muffins like regular cupcakes, there’s no contest compared to a real oven. Of course, no one would buy an air...

I roast a pretty big batch of fresh vegetables, round-roasting broccoli, cauliflower, red peppers, brussels sprouts, and sweet potatoes. I air-fried them after brushing them with a bit of oil I was testing both the Air Fry and Max Crisp settings and found that it wasn’t so easy. But once I got the technique down, the veggies were perfect, dripping with that little oil. Flipping is essential at least once during the cooking process; on my first occasion, when I forgot, the food didn’t cook on one side. Ninja Crispi works pretty fast and browning too much really isn’t good there needs to be that constant vigilance not to blacken food rather than burn it. Even when flipping - and observing - some veggies end up very browned (or blackened) in certain spots before they get cooked through. Quite a bit more crunchy and charred rather than tender is how air ‘fried’ veggies are supposed to be.

I love sweet potatoes most as a vegetable to be taken when they are just cooked from fresh they have that crispy exterior and a soft interior. The next day, I used the Recrisp mode to reheat the leftovers, and they were perfect.

Veggie burgers, protein waffles, veggie tots, falafel balls, and veggie “chicken” nuggets were a few of the dishes I prepared. Everything turned out great with a nice crunchy exterior and a tender interior without using any oil for these convenience foods.

I had some people over for a Super Bowl party so I quickly made some frozen French fries in the air fryer for them. They disappeared so fast, I had to fry up another batch right away! They came out super crunchy and gold on the outside but stayed nice and soft on the inside-I hadn't over-seasoned them with oil or anything.

My whole family has gotten on board with air frying. The littlest one is a much more adventurous cook than I am and just made some spiced tofu squares with a panko crust. It turned out quite delicious, to everyone's expectations, duly crispy on the outside and soft within. Actually, he did not even mention if they should have pressed or even dried the tofu before frying. Thus, holding onto its flavoring, I had it, as a vegetarian, to offer; while my meat-eating husband used the Ninja Crispi to crisp some chicken breasts. They turned a great brown on the outside (remember: shake ‘em once, half-way through cooking time) then into perfect tender pieces.

As I’ve said, I played around with the Bake mode. At first, I made the pancake bites in just a small silicone baking dish. While the tops got a nice brown color, the rest stayed uncooked. I wound up pulling off the tops, flipping them, and re-running them through another baking cycle, which worked great. I also tried air frying a dense protein cookie and ran into the same issue. Again, I took off the top, flipped it, and returned it for another cycle … its works fine, by the way—just make sure if you are planning to use Bake mode, then make your stuff very thin.

Now, if you are hesitating with the Ninja Crispi 4-in-1 Portable Glass Air Fryer Cooking System, maybe you will want to look into these alternative choices.

Consider myself to be a foodie, but an extremely lazy cook that’s how I would describe myself. I remember well my earlier days as a wife and mother of three little ones when all three kept me up much of many nights, so I devoted more time to preparing a wide variety of healthy meals from scratch. Then, my kids grew up, and the sleepless nights turned into an annoying phase, wherein I wanted to eat healthily but not spend much time preparing the food. This is how we’ve been able to keep on top with food preparation the Ninja Crisper has been a life saver that Turbo Chef looks like a useful appliance. For 14 days, I, my husband, and one young adult child used this appliance every day and often twice. Fresh vegetables were interspersed with veggie burgers, veggie chicken nuggets, fries, waffles, breaded tofu, falafel, veggie tots, chicken (boneless skinless), pancake bites, and protein breakfast cookie. Cleaning after each use was quite easy, and I would sometimes put paper air fryer liners and that really helped in cleaning up the mess.
